Direct Admission Program
IPHA’s Direct Admission Program is designed to streamline hospital operations by reducing delays in patient placement and enhancing the overall efficiency of inpatient care. When appropriate, patients can be admitted directly to the hospital—bypassing the emergency department—through a coordinated process between referring providers, IPHA hospitalists, and hospital transfer coordinators.
This approach improves patient flow, preserves emergency department resources for true emergencies, and shortens the time from referral to inpatient placement. Our process is built on real-time communication, thorough clinical screening, and a strong understanding of each hospital’s internal bed management and service availability.
By reducing unnecessary delays, referring providers benefit from a more responsive experience, while hospitals see improvements in operational throughput and patient satisfaction. Every step of the process is designed to support efficiency, communication, and seamless transitions of care.
